The Founder behind the Ghana Movie Awards, Fred Nuamah, has answered concerns raised by some entertainment world individuals in regards to plaques that were awarded to some of the champs during its 2025 edition.
The program which was held at the Accra International Conference Centre on January 18, 2025, has gone under fire for unfortunate association.
One of the issues that surfaced after the award ceremony was the introduction of privately made fans (called papa in Twi) to some of the champs.
The fan plaques have a wooden base with engravings and a canvas of Ghana's red-gold-green and the black star, on the fan.
Addressing Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM's Showbiz A-Z, Fred Nuamah made sense of that the fans were awarded to victors of classes that fell under an alternate honor conspire called Ghana television Series Grants, albeit the two honors were kept intact.
"I in all actuality do realize that it is Ghana Movie Awards and Ghana television Series Awards. It is the Ghana Film Grants that we have the brand name with the gold plated plaques. With regards to Ghana television Series Awards, since we don't have the brand name, we began with the brilliant plaques, we headed off to some place else and they attempted this one [the fans] too so the individuals who had the fan otherwise known as the father, they are the Ghana television Series Awards. So Ghana Film Grants didn't present dad yet the two occasions were held at a similar spot," he said.
He said, notwithstanding the analysis, he accepted the specialists that surfaced with the thought had a valid justification.
"Regularly we go to China, India and different spots for our plaques. So if my group is saying they need to emerge with something locally [made], obviously [I expected to comply]. Presently, additionally let me express something here. You realize you can't challenge craftsmen. What they see, we don't see it. For instance, assuming you proceed to keep an eye on Mona Lisa, that little photo, I'm certain the expense of that photo won't actually be as much as 400 bucks when they need to sell it around billions of cedis. So with regards to specialists, they can pick anything and do anything with it, and let you know that this thing is 3,000 bucks," he further noted.
Inquired as to whether he was dazzled with the fan plaques, he answered in the confirmed.
"By and by, I was good with it, since it was made in Ghana, so I was OK, until individuals began whining about it. I returned to the group and told them on the off chance that you are giving something to individuals and they appear to be not to like, it's alright. They are brilliant so manybe they need something brilliant," he expressed.
Fred Nuamah anyway said with the criticism they had with the fan plaques, they won't rehash them in their resulting versions.
He thusly demonstrated that the Ghana Film Awards is burdened with monetary challenges and expectations that a large portion of their concerns will be tackled assuming they get more help.
