JoySports is unsure at this time if the mattresses were meant for the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence renovation or for another use.
According to JoySports last week, certain clubs claimed that some of the buses that the football governing body imported for GHC 5,175,000 and that Freightgistics Ghana Company Ltd. cleared had not yet been registered since the necessary paperwork was not available.According to the report, the "used Hyundai County bus" came with other, difficult-to-identify objects in the container.
It has recently come to light that these extra imported items were student and medium-sized mattresses.
Muftawu Nabila Abdulai of JoySports had sent a letter to the GRA asking for information on the contents of the container.
These information were not included in the original report, though, because the response was received after the story had been published.
According to the GRA, there were 15 packs of student mattresses and 25 packs of medium-sized mattresses in the crate that brought the secondhand Hyundai County bus (black matte).
In that particular container, the Ghana FA imported 40 mattresses in total.
The 25 medium-sized mattresses were assessed at GHC 32,597.50, while the 15 student mattress packs were priced at GHC 14,027.29. The bus's cost, insurance, and freight (CIF) was GHC 212,783.08.
According to the report dated March 4, 2025, the bus's total duty was GHC 72,116.10.
The GRA's breakdown of the beds showed that the duty on the 15 student mattresses was GHC 7,311.63, while the duty on the 25 medium-sized mattresses was GHC 17.86.
"[In the meantime]... the total duty on the contents of the container is GHC 96,972.46."GHC 356,380.33 was spent on the container in total, including duty and CIF value.
