Many of the nation's athletic facilities have deteriorated over time as a result of poor maintenance.
Speaking to Parliament during the Ministry of Sports and Recreation's GHC 65 million budget approval, Annoh-Dompreh, who is also the Minority Chief Whip, emphasized the necessity of steady financing to maintain these infrastructures.
“We have invested so much in these infrastructures, and it cannot be the case that we leave them as they are until we have a tournament coming up before we step in,” he said, adding that a line budget should be set aside for the upkeep of these sports facilities. He said.
He also underlined how crucial routine maintenance is to protecting national resources.
To prevent the depletion of national assets, it must be carried out in a traditional manner, and we must make a commitment to it. As long as you [Chairman Henry Ernest Norgbey and the Ranking Member of the Sports Committee of Parliament] follow up, we (the lawmakers) will approve the budget. "Chief, follow up to ensure that we receive maintenance funding," he continued.
Ghana has experienced difficulties recently as a result of the inadequate upkeep of important sporting facilities.
Due to their declining circumstances, the Cape Coast Sports Stadium and Baba Yara Stadium were recently prohibited from hosting CAF and FIFA-sanctioned games.
