Even though the Black Stars won back-to-back games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, head coach Otto Addo thinks his squad can still go better.
During the March international break, the four-time African champions began the 2025 season with a convincing 5-0 triumph over Chad and a powerful 3-0 victory against Madagascar. This comes after a poor 2024 campaign.
Ghana's six-game losing record came to an end with these results, and they now lead Group I with 15 points, three points ahead of Comoros in second place.
In an interview with Joy Sports, Addo emphasized the need for additional improvement while acknowledging the benefits.
"There are always certain things we can do better. We scored a lot of goals [against Chad and Madagascar] and had a strong defense," he remarked.
However, the second game against Mali will be really difficult, therefore the link needs to be considerably stronger in between. We will succeed if we keep doing it," he continued.
The Black Stars are still leading Group I with four games remaining in the qualifications.
In September, the team will reassemble for pivotal matches against Mali and Chad on Matchdays 7 and 8, continuing their pursuit of World Cup qualification.
