Speaking on Sunday, March 9, at a youth engagement session on X Spaces organized by social media influencer KalyJay, Dr. Forson admitted that the nation's financial condition is still precarious despite recent efforts.
"Let me emphasize this: we shouldn't fool ourselves into thinking that the nation is already out of its troubles. The first thing we must do is take action to restore the stability we deserve since our economy is still in trouble," he warned.
Dr. Forson described the government's commitment to putting policies into place that promote economic stability, such as initiatives to keep inflation under control, preserve a stable currency rate, and establish a predictable economic climate.
"We can create a framework that will ensure a stable economy, stable inflation, and a stable exchange rate," he continued.
In order to give the private sector more access to financial resources, he also emphasized the necessity of lowering domestic borrowing. He asserts that reducing government spending is essential to supporting economic growth and company expansion.
"It is imperative that the government limit spending and its borrowing appetite. The private sector will have access to much more resources as a result," he said.
Dr. Forson gave the people, especially the young, the assurance that their opinions will be taken into account when establishing government policies after his recent meeting with traders in Accra's Central Business District. Claims that these engagements were just symbolic were rejected by him.
"Ghanian folks are not something I take for granted. I'm not here merely for the sake of being here. I'm here to hear your opinion, so disregard the propaganda," he confirmed.
On March 11, Dr. Forson is scheduled to deliver the 2025 Budget and Policy Statement.
