After a five-week break due to the terrible murder of Francis Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley, of Asante Kotoko, who was fatally stabbed at Nana Kronmansah Park during a match versus Nsoatreman FC, the league returned this matchweek.
Hearts of Oak defeated Young Apostles 2-0 on Sunday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. Just before halftime, Michael Mensah Awuah gave the team the lead, and three minutes into the second half, Hamzah Issah doubled it to complete the victory.
Asante Kotoko defeated struggling Legon Cities 2-0 at Baba Yara Stadium to maintain their impressive play. Kwame Opoku scored a penalty kick in the 89th minute to complete the victory after Patrick Asiedu gave the home team the lead in the 28th minute.
At the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Karela United and Basake Holy Stars drew 1-1. Karela took the lead in the 20th minute thanks to Alhassan Adamu, but Holy Stars equalized in the 73rd minute thanks to Bismark Teye.
Medeama SC completed a comeback to upset Bechem United 3-1 at the TNA Park. Darlvin Yeboah put Bechem ahead in the 6th minute, but Osah Bernardinho Tetteh equalized 10 minutes later. Michael Sarpong gave Medeama the lead in the 68th minute, and Kelvin Nkrumah completed the victory in stoppage time as Medeama subsequently took control of the second half.
At DUN's Park, Michael Nkoah's goal in the 70th minute gave Bibiani GoldStars a 1-0 victory over Nations FC.
At the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex, Vision FC and Heart of Lions fought to a 1-1 draw. In the 14th minute, Kwesi Pong gave Heart of Lions the lead, but in the 31st minute, George Tei Nagadzi gave the home team an equalizer.
Berekum Stephen Amankona stole the show with a hat-trick in the 44th, 52nd, and 72nd minutes as Chelsea shocked the Accra Lions 3-1 at Nana Agyemang Badu Park. In the 84th minute, David Olubi Akintunde gave the Accra Lions a late consolation goal.
At the Tuba Astro Turf, Dreams FC and Aduana FC battled to a goalless draw.
