Patrick Yaw Boamah, a member of parliament for Okaikwei Central, has urged the Black Stars to return to the form that saw them get to the 2010 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals in South Africa.
Following Ghana's thrilling back-to-back wins in the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament—5-0 over Chad and 3-0 over Madagascar—he made the plea.
Although the team has shown promise, Boamah stressed that it still needs to strive for higher excellence because it has not yet realized its full potential.
During a session in Parliament, Boamah stated, "We want our national team to be at the levels that took us to the last 8 in 2010. That is where we want our national team to be, and we encourage them to play better and to be at the level that will gladden the hearts of Ghanaians, Mr. Speaker." With these significant victories, Ghana has increased its chances of earning a spot in the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada. The Black Stars will play again in September against Chad and Mali on Matchdays 7 and 8.
