A budget of GH¢65,899,456.00 has been authorized by Parliament to support the growth of sports throughout the nation.
Following a motion made by Kwame Governs Agbodza, Minister of Roads and Highways, the approval was given on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
Several members of parliament, including Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth, MP for Okere Constituency, who emphasized the value of sustaining sporting facilities, strongly supported the move.
"Maintenance has been a problem, and the ministry should place a high priority on this if we wish to keep growing our sports and including the children. This would guarantee the longevity of these institutions and provide young people the chance to hone their skills," he said.
The funding would support important projects to improve sports across the country, according to Hon. Agbodza, who also described the ministry's plans for using the money.
He clarified that the money was meant to assist the ministry in funding national sports initiatives, such as creating a national sports fund, renovating certain stadiums, and creating a new sports strategy.
With better facilities and greater chances for young athletes, this permission represents a major investment in Ghana's sports industry.
