In an interview with Graphic Sports, Zito, who is also the head coach of Ghana's U-19 team, categorically denied the allegations that Okraku has influenced player call-ups.
"I can assure you that there are instances when Kurt isn't even familiar with the players we select," Zito remarked.
After qualifying for the AFCON, he recalled speaking with Okraku, in which the GFA president merely asked about the team's progress without making player selections.
He invited me into his office after I qualified for the AFCON to ask how I felt about my team. He just asked if I wanted to bolster the team, never telling me which players to pick.
The seasoned coach stressed that Okraku's job was not so much to influence selections as it was to support scouting efforts.
"I thought about including three players from overseas in the team as a result of that encouragement. However, COVID prevented one from playing. Because of this, I can firmly attest that the FA president has no say in who gets to play," he said.
