Assafuah claims that the committee has only been provided with financial information pertaining to the players' and coaches' pay thus far; the whole budget for the games has not been made public.
As of right now, we are unaware of the Black Stars' entire budget. To yet, the committee has only been given the salary breakdown for coaches and personnel, including assistant coaches and team managers.
In his State of the Nation Address earlier this year in February, President John Mahama promised that the Black Stars' budget would be made public to improve transparency. However, Assafuah played down the significance of the President's promise, implying that it wasn't a significant departure from past practices. "This promise isn't anything groundbreaking.
In previous administrations, ministries and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have always disclosed the amount of money spent on the Black Stars after matches have been played. So, the real change would be if the government starts disclosing the budget before the matches," he said on Metro TV.
During the March international break, the Black Stars defeated Chad 5-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium and then defeated Madagascar 3-0 in Morocco. Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams promised the public that the budget for the Black Stars' games would be revealed soon.
